week 10.

week 10, was all about finishing the last little bits which we have done over the 10 weeks of work experience. I have enjoyed work experience because its gave me some really good knowledge such as what kind of questions will be asked within an interview. I have also learnt how to prepare for an interview.

Week 8/9

Today was quite exciting because we have started our photographic make up assignment. This is exciting because i love getting creative and this is where we can start to do out own designs and ideas. This week we had to create a bridal look which i did on Eloise and to create the look i did a soft make-up with her hair being curly.
week 9. I used Lydia as my model for period and for my period make up and hair i made her into a Hippy. I did this by using bright green eye shadow, peachy coloured lips and curly hair. i also used a Hippy tshirt, which were brightly coloured and a head band to match.

Week 6/7

Today we started bringing clients in this is because some of us are falling behind with our practical work, i  am going to grab this opportunity to complete my assessments. I think this will be really helpful because  it gives us the chance to get clients in Wednesday and Thursday. This will make the process a lot quicker. I also want to finish my assessments so my placement can go forward ready for me getting an apprenticeship in the up coming year.

Week 5

Today i have filled in my answers for the Ragdale hall trade test/interviews. i applied my past work experience to the questions and use some of the advised vocabulary used in their job advertisement.
I found doing this work very helpful because it has taught me i would need to answer questions in a real interview, then after break we practiced out nail painting skills.

Week 4

This week is where i went out to see 'Time' Beauty salon at staveley. At first i just went into have a look meet the manager and meet the girls there, we then arranged for me to go up a week later to do a trade test, so the week later i went and did my trade test on the manager which was a pedicure. I went to 'Time' at staveley because in the up coming year i am wanting an apprenticeship because it seems more than right for this to be my next step in my career. Going to time gave me great confidence and the real feel of the beauty industry. 

Although i am not only looking at 'Time' for an apprenticeship next year i am looking a 'A class beauty' which i will be going to in a couple of weeks time.

Week 3

Today at placement i started my CV. We have started our CV because it will help us when trying to apply for jobs in various areas. First we started by finding the website 'http://www.reed.co.uk/cvbuilder/home/begin' and then started to put information into the CV such as education and previous work experience.
After this we then researched a salon near where we live which we could attend once a week for experience the salon i found were 'Time' in Staveley and 'A class beauty' which is in Newbold. These two salons are very different and offer a wide range of treatments at affordable prices.
I believe that having this opportunity within college to go out into industry is great so it can help me in the future to get employment in a similar role of work.

Trade test

Today we was told that we was going to start our practical work in our work experience, we started off with a practice trade test. we did this to prepare us for our trade tests we may have to do when we are applying for jobs. 

Today it was my turn to do the trade test.

First of all i set my area up ready for a manicure.

I put everything that i needed in order starting with the eau de cologne right through till painting the nails. 

My friend Natalie (who was working as the employer) sat down and wrote down the good things and the things i had to improve on. As we started i had to great her as if it was the real thing, even though i have known Natalie quite a while now i still felt nervous, i am not too sure why though. we all had to present our self in a profession way.
